It is a waiting game. The Knights Templar Holy Land Pilgrimage has two fronts that determine whether or not we can move ahead and confirm travel for each pilgrimage. On our side of the equation, our plan and program are fully in place. Our itineraries and arrangements are completely planned and ready to be executed. The other side of the equation is what is happening in the world and specifically on the ground in the Middle East.
Our watershed decision time for the 2027 Ministers’ Pilgrimage is the second week of October. We are waiting to see what will happen in the days to come in this uncertain time. If we make deposits with the airline after that date and hostility situations would force us to cancel, we will lose significant amounts of money. We only lose a basic reservation fee if we reschedule to 2028 before that date and before we make airline deposits.
2026 was a significant learning experience. We have discovered what can happen when hostilities break out during a pilgrimage. We now know that safety protocols are well in place and will be executed effectively. We know that our travel company will make immediate changes in our travel plans and move us safely and promptly as they rearrange our travel.
Dates are set for November of 2027 for the ‘open’ pilgrimage for Sir Knights, Ladies, friends, and guests: November 8 – 18, 2027.
Tentative dates for the Ministers’ Pilgrimage travel groups for 2028 would be:
January 31 – February 10 and February 14 – February 24.
We are watching and waiting and ready to put our well-tuned program into gear . . . as soon as the world is ready.
